Introducing…

An Introduction

My name is Aaron Rushing, and I am a counselor at Strong Foundations Counseling, PLLC. About a year ago, my wife (Ann) and I started a new practice here in Greensboro. Originally from Louisiana, my wife and I hopped around the country (mostly the South) in search of opportunity and a place to call home. About two years ago, we made the decision to move here to Greensboro, and we quickly decided that this new, and very green, city would be where we settled and started to really live. And the more we lived, the more we did, the more socially active we got, the more we felt welcomed and loved by the city.

Strong Foundations Counseling, PLLC is here to stay and we’re happy to finally have the chance to dedicate our time and energy to help support the mental and emotional health of the Triad and all of North Carolina. Through direct work with our clients, we help change lives by meeting people where they are (no matter where that might be) and helping them build strong foundations from which to build their futures. Eventually, we would love to host small groups and educational groups, as well as skills classes and other resources to encourage community and learning.

Our Therapists

Ann is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a supervisory endorsement (LCSW-S) whose focus is treating trauma through EMDR work, which she provides to clients across multiple age groups, in addition to her more general therapeutic work. She also loves working with young adults and college students. I’ve focused more as a generalist and love working with teachers and people living with chronic pain. Lately, I’ve been having great success working with men of all ages and have noticed a real need in that demographic. Most recently, I’ve expanded to offer marriage and/or relationship counseling and have been helping clients address relationship concerns and improve communication. We both want to do more, though, and slowly but surely, we’re beginning to build on our strong foundation of work and expand into other areas which we hope will help bring our positive impact to an even larger portion of the community.

The Blog Itself

Originally conceptualized as a place for my ramblings and thoughts on being a new therapist and a place to document them, we’ve decided to expand the purpose of this blog to include both professional reflections and individual best practices/advice/how-tos. We will  (hopefully)  post regularly, both to help keep aspiring therapists from feeling isolated and to provide a resource for anyone and everyone to benefit from. There will very likely be various series and running commentaries, and questions are always welcome. This blog will be a way for me to interact with you, the reader, and to hopefully provide a place of laughter, understanding, and helpful information.

SFC and You

Here at Strong Foundations Counseling, we care about you; your wants, your needs, your hopes and dreams. We work with you to fill any gaps in the foundations of your life and then help you to build the skills so that you can choose to live your life the way you want it. And we do it all in a way that is safe, nonjudgemental, individually paced, and incredibly supportive. If you aren’t ready to come see us, that’s fine too. We’ll be here when you’re ready.

In the next few weeks, we’ll be expanding our footprint and online presence through new posts and other initiatives, so keep an eye out. We encourage you to check out www.strongfoundationspllc.com to meet our therapists or send us a comment or question (not intended for therapeutic advice, counseling or emergency use). We also encourage you to call our office at (336) 609-6844; we’d be happy to answer any related questions you might have. And if you happen to have any other questions, concerns, comments, hopes, fears, anxieties, or phobias, please feel free to visit the office and we’ll work on them together.
