How Do We Know It’s Time to See A Couple’s Therapist

SFC Couple’s Therapist

Aaron Rushing - Staff Therapist

Couples can care deeply about each other and still become stuck in patterns of conflict, defensiveness, withdrawal, resentment, or disconnection. Communication becomes even harder when strong emotions, vulnerability, past experiences, and everyday stress enter the conversation.

My approach to couples counseling focuses on creating a respectful environment where both partners can speak openly, feel heard, and better understand the patterns affecting their relationship. I consider the health of the relationship while respecting each partner’s safety, dignity, autonomy, and individual needs. Because every relationship is different, therapy is tailored to the couple’s circumstances and goals.

Our work may address communication, emotional connection, trust, conflict resolution, boundaries, shared expectations, problem-solving, or difficult decisions about the relationship’s future. Healthy compromise should not require one person to repeatedly sacrifice important needs or values. My role is not to take sides or determine the outcome. My role is to help you understand the relationship more clearly, communicate more effectively, establish meaningful goals, and make thoughtful decisions about the path forward.
